Hi, I'm Louise
I'm a serial renovator
and space obsessive
I have reworked all the houses I've lived in, to make them look better, work better and (most importantly) feel better. Rented, owned, flats, terraces, semi detached - they all got the same treatment... I simply cannot live in a house with wasted or misused space, and it breaks me quietly inside to see it in so many homes.
My own home projects have ranged from small tweaks to huge redevelopments. I have briefed and project managed builders, all the different trades, and even worked with architects. I am also a big fan of DIY - whatever fits the bill.
With so many people feeling frustrated with their own homes, I'm always being asked for advice by friends and family... and even to strangers I meet in shops! Eventually so many people had said "you should do this for a living" that I decided to do just that.
Oh, and I’ve viewed over 100 properties in the past 18 months (part my own search, part joining people on theirs) and I’ve spoken to a lot of estate agents about what adds value in Bristol.
So it’s passion + experience + knowledge = ThisHomeWorks

My ethos
Rework
There aren't any homes which can't be tweaked and made to work better. I just love working out how
Reuse
A lot of the furniture solutions to your home frustrations can probably be found in your own home.
Upcycle
Furniture which has served its purpose in one life, may well have more to give doing something new
Free for Free
Pick up free items given away by your neighbours is a joy - as is giving away what you don't need
Recycle
New projects don't have to be made with new
materials - some of the best are reclaimed
Reimagine
A little lateral thinking and a great understanding of space can result in wonderful things
“Louise has this knack of just seeing the answer to any room's problem. It's as if she can see round corners, measure spaces in her head and see the potential like it's already there. She loves doing this to a nerdy level... and she's really really good at it” - Imogen (disclaimer: a friend, but she has a point)
I love houses. But I love homes more
I consider myself to be a house nerd and I just love them. Bristol is just so full of interesting buildings from every era
Domestic dwellings are so much more than 'properties' because they are lived in - often they are as much a personality as the people living there
You need to understand the fabric of a building to know what can and can't be done to it, but equally it's important to listen to the people living there to know what the house needs to be for everyone to enjoy and use to it's fullest
I have always been able to imagine the best of a house and see how the space could work better… it's just a thing I can do and I am extremely good at it. Let me help sort your house out once and for all
